The state fish of Hawaii is called Humuhumunukunukuāpuaʻa. The name is pronounced “who-moo-who-moo-noo-koo-noo-koo-ah-pooah-ah” and the translation of the name to English is “triggerfish with a pig-like short snout” (2).

If you thought the above fish name was long, then you’ll have to try lauwiliwilinukunukuʻoiʻoi. Its name is translated to “long-snouted fish shaped like a wiliwili leaf” in English (2). One special fact about this fish is that it finds a mate for life!
